A "marketing survey" scam. Asked me to answer some questions and it would be quick. The lady wanted to know my name. I refused to give her anything other than my initial. She then hung up after telling me to stop wasting her time. Hmm shame. I was enjoying the banter.

Claimed to be from BT Broadband and told me my internet router was sending error signals to them and that I wasn't getting the speed I should be.
They give you a bit of blurb about internet speed and then ask you to turn on your laptop, they ask you to press 'Ctrl + Windows +R' then type: - 'Eventvwr' into the box. They then use screen that comes up to persuade you that you have a problem.
Once they have you convinced, which is easily done if you are not tech savvy, the sting.. Your money!!!
Fraud - suggests someone has hacked into my internet and will be down for 6 days and as my internet provider they need to resolve etc.... They aren't my internet provider so this was a red flag, secondly no security check to ensure they are speaking with the account holder, third he asked me to trust him! Keep away but by all means have an entertaining conversation to challenge the approach if you so wish.
