Got a fake text message pretending to be from Halifax saying a payment was attempted and if it was not me to click on theink theyd sent. I dont bank with Halifax. Do not respond to this message and block, its a scam trying yo take your info and money!
Claiming to be a call blocker company and was going to block all international calls from tomorrow.
They read out the details of the owner who previously had our phone number, and even had the last 4 digits of her debit card number and wanted confirmation of account number and sort code- which is extremely worrying.
They are obviously an Indian scammer call centre, very poor English, trying their luck to empty your account. What?s so alarming is they buy these details from crooks who work for the U.K.
Fraud: Pretends to be from HSBC Bank sending a text that someone has been authorised to receive a payment from your account. However HSBC Bank (if you have an account with them) don't give out their numbers when they call or text their customers. Also HSBC don't use this form of security check ( text warnings to set up a new payment from your a/c). The objective is probably to defraud you of your money by gaining access to your bank account - or to use the link in the message to instigate a virus infection.
