Never used or heard of Ascend Finance. My guess is telemarketing.
Received a call from this number while at work so it went to voicemail. It was an automated message from some company claiming to be hmrc and I had to get in touch as soon as possible and not to disregard the message as there will be consequences and have a nice day....think it's a total scam

Silent call...possiblya scam as I have no connection to anyone in California! It sounded as if it was from call centre even though no one spoke directly to me.
Sick of these calls every day from various 0845 980 numbers just block them
SCAM. I was called by the same "person" on a completely different number a few weeks back and was sufficiently suspicious to look it up. That was a scam too and they seem to have kept the same phone patter but changed to a different phone number today - probably to avoid the numerous scam reports on websites like these of the old phone number.
