If you get a call you should answer or call back as the problem is that the initial database maker sells your number on to other junk call companies. If you have a call from them you should call the number back and ask for James, the call centre manager and demand where they got your number from. A recorded voice indicates an outstanding tax issue. Asking you to press 1 to be connected. Failure to do so will result in a warrant for your arrest (on the grounds of tax fraud) being issued. Her Majesty's Inspector of taxes would not phone if there was an issue. They would write to you. They know your address, but fraudsters and scammers like this do not. Someone called my mobile from this number 02087258118, using an automated voice, saying they were going to suspend my National Insurance number because of unusual activity!! Very threatening and loud voice saying I had to ring back this number immediately. To me that sounds like a scam because anything serious and legal they would have phoned and spoken to me and sent an email. Its twice now that my mobile number has been contacted by scammers and its getting really annoying.
