rang me to say i have been in an accident and i must be recieving lots of phone calls which they said could help me stop recieving them ..i have put it on my reject list they h...

The companies don’t "get" your number, they just block-dial numbers until they get a ring tone so TPS and ex-directory numbers do not offer any protection.

I just checked this number as I got suspicious. A guy called Glen Lowther is supposed to be coming to my house in an hour to sell advertising space for Wood brook Medical Centre, Loughborough. When I call the number no-one replies. Will they come to my house?

Part of the ongoing automated call scams. When answering the call, there is a split second blimp where the automated answer kicks in. Not even a human on the other end. Someone needs to trace the number to the property which rang it and cut their lines.
