Definitely a scam, tried to inquire about something to do with housing and when I explained this was a work number, became very rude and argumentative. Background noise was like a call centre, with lots of people talking.

Hi, just had a call from an Asian bloke who said my Internet connection had wires crossed in my house and its causing a network problem. He claimed to be BT. I didn't tell him that BT don't run the network it's Open Reach. Also didn't tell him I'm not a BT customer. I ended the call.

Scam is to get Yr correct information name dob.. address and ask u for the 2 letter and 2nd 4th letter of your national insurance number then they say it does NOT match put u in fear that if u don't confirm correct details BTW now with NI BUT with 1st letter, 1st 3rd and last letter of NI. Convincing u if it was a scam why hv they not asked for bank details Ah so they can open account with Yr now given credentials.

Told them we didn't have it so he progressed to to say the Government site said we did and how did i know that we didn't and they weren't trying to sell anything. This was a recorded message clearly of a fraudulent nature, saying that I was to be arrested for tax fraud. I immediately hung up and did not listen to the whole message. I presume that there is some scam involved. It is at least annoying and is potentially dangerous for the unwary.
