These people keep calling my Mother who is in her eighties. It is so annoying as she is frail & frightened but they will not give up, she now does not answer the phone unless she recognises the number.
Called twice today, 2nd time answered: asked for my partner by name & claimed to be from People's Energy who are our energy supplier and are based in Edinburgh so that matches the area code (0131). My partner wasn't happy to confirm security information for an unsolicited call though and they were happy to end the call requesting we call them. Again one of those calls reporting that you have been involved in a car accident. I don t have a car... It seemed like a recorded message and caller hung up when I twice answered that I don t have a car.
This comes up as a Liverpool number .of is a company dealing with PPI. Very polite young man who was straight to the point regarding what the call was for. After asking a few questions, the usual ones about whether I d had any loans, credit cards, catalogues etc, he said he would get the system updated so that they didn t call again. Just about the most polite call I ve ever had regarding PPI!!

SCAM: Obviously a spoofed number- supposedly calling from my local area. An Indian sounding woman announced herself and said she was calling from BT. I don't have my phone line from BT, so I put on a silly voice & asked her if it was nice where she was, or was it raining? She ended the call.

This number called me at 16h33 on Tuesday 11th April 2023. Man with heavy Indian accent claimed to be from Microsoft. Said I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service so he shouldn't call me. Hung up, but he rang again and asked why I'd hung up. I said I'd already explained why, and hung up. He phoned a third time, and in a stroppy tone asked why I'd hung up. So I hung up AGAIN. For a fourth time, he phoned again. Didn't answer, and blocked his number. Obvious nuisance.

I got a call from this number asking me to ring them back or a warrant would be issued in my name and I would be arrested shortly. I ignored it as I know I had not committed any offence and recognise its a scam but imagine if it happens to a vulnerable person who suffers from anxiety. They could get sick from worry even though they have not done anything wrong.
