its a scam even if it is 118 because they sell your data at no gain to you. If its unsolicited hang up because I have never seen any unsolicited call from an unknown person being to your benefit - normally its quite the opposite.
Called around mid day to say my bank account had significant withdrawals and said press 2 to talk to an advisor. I suggested they did something physiologically impossible!

A dangerous fraud / scam call pretending to be from the UK HMRC. Automated American woman's voice telling me legal proceedings are underway against me and I need to press 1 to speak to an officer. For many reasons, that's not how HMRC would operate.

I was called by this number 09:34 on 03 July 2023. It was an autodialer with an American accent telling me I had returned an HMRC envelope and now further action would be taken if..... Scam. Said they were from sky and I may have offers, tried to get me to have fibre broadband. I stupidly gave my address, email etc. Just contacted sky & it appears that it’s not one of their numbers. There’s a recording if you ring the number back that does say it’s a recording on behalf of sky. Just be careful not to give any details.

But the 121 message service only catches the end of the message which asks you to press now to avoid court proceedings. Therefore this appears to be a Scam and the number should be treated with extreme caution. Seems like an Indian call centre, have had a few missed calls from several number over the passed few days which I have blocked. They left a 20 second voicemail by mistake with them talking in Indian and laughing before realising that she was on voicemail and hung up. No company name offered, wouldn’t trust regardless. Especially as it appears to me a mobile number and not a landline
This is a scam number pretending to be Amazon UK. They pretended that i had mistakenly signed up for 'their' yearly subscription and stated i they were due to take 79.99 out of my account today if i did not cancel immediately. They stated that they could sort this out online and that I may be due a refund. I asked them to call back and contacted Amazon service desk who explained that they had never called me and that i was still subscribed on monthly terms. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY OF YOUR DETAILS.
