A new Amazon Prime scam call today. 8 days ago we had the same type of call (01203482996 that time) using the same robotic female (possibly Philipino) voice BUT this week the "cost" had almost trebled, they were apparently going to debit £99.99 from our bank account ....... Unless, of course, we pressed button 1 to speak to someone at Amazon.
I think this is an attempt to scare those who didn't react to the last threat £39.99) into trying to speak to these evil people.
A man phoned stating he was from HMRC and that they had an arrest warrant out in my name. They demanded £2000 in gift cards and told me I would be arrested if it wasn t paid or if i put the phone down.
This was a pre recorded message saying that it was Amazon and that my Prime Subscription needed renewing and that I needed to press button 1 to do so. I just hung on and then it hung up, no further explanation so obviously a scam and as I didn’t press the button of no use to them! This 01728 code is local for us but no 5 digit numbers are used here, how do they do it?
My partner have a lot of personal stuff happening and these idiots just call several times a day and sometimes because it looks like a genuine number you automatically pick up. DON T do it. I m letting the answer machine do it s thing but I just wish these idiots would bugger off.
