The caller gets the recipient to perform some tasks on their PC, claiming that it is infected. If you ask for their number, they provide this one. Finally received payment, however we had to instruct another solicitor to start winding up and they paid up an hour before we were going to issue court papers. My guess is they think most people will not be bothered or do not want to lose more money. SCAM - Seems to be a call centre as noisy line. Tried to obtain bank details etc under false pretences, alleging an engineer from BT has detected problems on my home landline and that without rectification I could incur £+ costs but if remedial action is taken quickly charges may be reduced. I asked for their engineer and departmental details but got nowhere so advised would call BT myself and the caller rang off. One for OfCom and other authorities.
