I was called from this number this morning. A recorded message supposedly from HMRC “if I don’t press option 1i will be arrested shortly”. Didn’t press 1 and ended the call.
Rang up claiming to be carphone warehouse. I have never been with carphone warehouse and they seemed to know nothing bar my number. She also seemed surprised when I answered so I'm pretty sure they have a huge list of numbers they just cycle though. I know my number was part of the facebook leaked numbers and Ive have a number of spam calls this last few days. I suspect this to be another

Silent call. Enough time for me to say "Hello" twice with a pause in between, then a buzz followed by disconnect. Sounds suspiciously like an auto dialler not connecting through to the operator at the other end, or a spoofed high cost return call scam. Either of these are not good!

This number rang today but hung up part way through the answerphone message. After reading comments here and elsewhere, I rang and asked for our number to be removed from their database. The guy I spoke to was happy to do this and also happy to tell me that the third party from whom they receive numbers is Communications Avenue. Looks like these are the people we should really be shutting down. A quick Googke shows that they re based in Newark.
