Indian man called with yarn about computer and trI'd to get private information. A very obvious scam but vulnerable or trusting people could be cheated out of money.

bought a fridge on appliancesonline.co.uk ... a couple of days later my phone rings and someone is trying to flog insurance cover....

Claimed to be EE Network
SCAM. I've just switched phone contracts around a month ago and these clowns called me up offering a 'super deal' on an iPhone with free data, calls and messaging for £40. Very strong indian accents, I repeatedly asked them who they were and who they thought I was. I was passed to a 'supervisior' who couldn't tell me who I was. A genuinec call should ask if they are speaking with the account owner. When i called them out for being scammers they got a bit short. They eventually rang off. AVOID

Claimed to be from the Credit Investigation Department and, when I told her that I had no outstanding debt, she hung up. Quick search uncovered FCA web page that states: "We believe this firm has been carrying out consumer credit activities in the UK without our permission or authorisation. Find out why to be especially wary of dealing with this unauthorised firm and how to protect yourself from scammers."
