"A man called 'Adam' rang from BFI (Basic Financial Information, or Introduction), immediately told them I didn't require their services and ended the call. Called me on my Irish mobile, no idea how they got my information, and definitely no recollection of providing consent to be contacted by BFI or any affiliates."

"An Indian? accented woman called claiming to be from BFI (something like Business Financial Information) who had my first name. Wouldn't answer my question when I asked how "BFI" got my details, nor would she acknowledge my request for my data to be removed. Even before GDPR this was something businesses had to accept, very dodgy business!"

They call and ask you for a one time payment to support a magazine to go into schools regarding bullying. ONCE. ONE TIME ONLY. You do not sign a contract, you do not enter into an agreement. They then persistently call you and ask you for more money as apparently you have entered into a contract.
Recognise a Scam:
Unsolicited Call
They associate themselves with ‘a good cause’
It's a limited offer .
Claims of the backing of a respected organisation
No money upfront
Nothing in writing
REPORT THEM
Had them call around midday and it claimed they were following up on the government's free loft insulation. It then started asking questions and I noticed that if I didn't give the 'right' answer it would repeat the question. I think it is a computer-controlled call that responds to replies and from searches it may also be a cloned number. I hung up and call barred them.
This is a number used by British Gas... generally to gain feedback after a British Gas engineer has visited your property (typically the day after)... Although still annoying, these types of calls are genuine (although I still ignored it).
to the two anon posts below - tell us something we don t know ! why are you so adamant on spamming up these sites with your constant repeat drivel ? spoof ? text ? con ? yo...
SCAM only answered as it was a local code and I'm waiting on some calls. Not an English accent. Tried to tell me they were from Amazon and someone had tried to use my details to buy something for £400 asked if I had. Said no so was told to check emails, didn't have one so was told to use computer not mobile as for security it would only go to computer ???? At this point I was bored so told him to do one. Rang number back and no surprises it wasn't recognised.
ANY call about your computer, broadband, router, viruses, hacked IP address, etc., will ALWAYS be a scam. Block the number on your phone. For a mobile, refer to the manufacturer...
