  	8000698683	Got the red message on my laptop rang the number they wanted access my compute remotely very dodgy so hung up. After a few seconds the rang me back showing an incoming call from New York I ignored it.

Read the whole message but was immediately alerted to the fact they cannot spell "response" - at the foot of the message it is spelt "responce". The message was also written in very poor English. Clearly a scam.

Have they made their killing and gone away?

BASTARDS. I was also sceptical because during the week someone hacked into my emails and sent an email ,from me !, to my accounts manager telling her to make payments to certain bank accounts .

  	8000698683	I had similar messages today and last Sunday on my laptop and asked me to contact 08000698683. I am glad read this page and realize others had the same experience.I was advised not to contact this number.
  	8000698683	SCAM!!!! Sudden red alert on computer screen that Microsoft Edge had been damaged and personal data at risk of being stolen. Rang the number - man talking with indian accent presenting himself as Microsoft engineer - repeating my computer was damaged if I did not install security software, pay £260 and gave credit card details. Asking to allow him to remotely work on my computer. I just hung up, ran my antivirus, everything working fine.

As previous posters have suggested - press ctrl + alt +del on your computer - this will bring up task manager - go to chrome or explorer or wherever this 'critical' message came up on - right click on the programme and press 'end task' - the programme will close - and the messsage will disappear - then start up your programme again - and everything will be fine - time wasting scammers -

It said that firewall had stopped someone trying to get personal details and to ring 0800 069 8683 but couldn’t get screen to close so switched off laptop. Didn’t ring number but Was a bit scared but decided to google the number and confirmed others had had this come through so relieved it was a scam. Forwarded details to City of London police. Do NOT ring number and do NOT allow anyone to link into your computer.
