Fraud Called with an automatic voice stating my national insurance was to be suspended and that it had been involved in a serious crime. This is a social engineering attack.
No answer when I picked up. Part of a series of different suspicious mobile numbers to have called me since yesterday. Only one of them responded when I picked up a (an automated message supposedly from my unnamed Internet provider).
SCAM: The number 08000478737 is on a letter supposedly from Trading Standards saying a wine investment company I have shares with has gone bust. The letter comes with an Insolvency Service form to complete regarding my shares, and that i must complete it in order to get full value of my shares returned. I must telephone the number to give the answers. Except, the wine company hasn't gone bust & Trading Standards don't send out these kind of letters.

Appears to be operating in the UK, English accent. Claims to be from an energy supplier from 'your area' however they are cold calling and know nothing about you. They will hang up quickly as soon as you query further, they will ask for personal details. Believe they are trying to sell loft insulation / boilers unsolicited however be careful they are also likely putting you out of pocket and potentially a SCAM.

SCAM an extremely rude man who I could not hear properly, don’t know who he was calling from as all he did was lecture me on how to speak on the phone, the only 2 words I heard was Damian and financial, then asked me how I didn’t remember registering, registering for what ??? Back again, they phoned my mobile yesterday and today my landline. Local garage had my contact numbers 2 years ago when I bought a car. In the past has just been postal advertising. The number is in Runcorn so misrepresentation of fact! Answered the phone with what are you selling, told them not to phone again as I don t want to buy a car. Must be a call centre in Runcorn, annoyed that local garage has sold or is using contact details for reasons beyond the original sale!!!

This is a high pressure sales caller purporting to be from a company called ESI, although I could find no details of them online. Their aim is to get people on good defined benefits pension schemes to sell out. They talk a good game, but this smells awfully like a scam outfit which is attempting to get people to transfer monies from safe defined benefits schemes to them, which is incredibly worrying. Your best bet if you receive a call from this number is to block it.
