They clled me, wasting my time but none of their own. Why is it even legal to phone people up by a machine leaving a recorded message?

This number appeared on the mobile phone claiming to be from HSBC asking to confirm new direct debit set up. We have never had an account with them.

This mobile number is a part of our company mobile contract. It appears to have been spoofed by someone undertaking fraudulent activity as they were asking for people bank details, when people were calling the number back, the employees phone would receive the call. The voicemail message that was kicking in was directing the disgruntled callers to our call centre, who made me aware of the situation. The calls were not originating from the mobile phone itself and were not in any way connected to the compa
