HMRC will only contact you through letters, not a personal EE phone number, and their web address is .gov.uk

No issues, only call with a genuine reason
Claimed to be calling on behalf of a third party who had minor discomfort after a car accident. I asked who the third party was, told the driver who crashed into my car had filled in a questionnaire. I said that was interesting since even the insurance company can t get hold of him as he was arrested the day he crashed into my parked car and due to this and other offences (on the day and prior) has been in prison ever since. Hung up when I stated this, obviously I realised they re con men but he had some of
