as above pretending to be from energy company saying our metre as been over charged and its connected to someone elses metre

FRAUDULENT SCAM: Pretending to be Amazon. Had a call yesterday from a different number. Like yesterday, suspect this was a gift card scam. Beware! Strong Indian accent, female this time. I took too long to put my headset on, she hung up by the time I managed to... oh well!
This company also uses the number: 01170446117. The caller said he wanted to ask a few questons. I asked him if the Company was registered with the Market Research Society (MRS), to which he replied,"yes." However, he was not able to provide the MRS number so I terminated the call. I rang the MRS and there was no "Unique Preference" on their list of genuine MR companies.
