rang to speak to my wife, by name...and its not a common one...didnt try to sell anything, just that they would ring back despite my phone having nothing to do with her!!!
Friend told me about it - they are phoning to get you to change electric & gas supplier.

Answered the phone and received a recorded message saying that our call was being connected, that they knew our call was important and that they knew we were waiting, and then the caller hung up. Almost certainly some form of scam to get people to call the number back.

Fake number so definitely a scam. Use the call-blocking system on your mobile or your landline if your provider offers this.
No idea - none of the lookup sites I have tried gave any results. Apparently though it is through EE and comes from Manchester. As Manchester seems to be a hot spot for scammers I would suspect that this is also a scammer or telemarketing.
