At first silent, then very distorted female voice that I think claimed to be from a technical company. when I asked twice for the name to be said more clearly, she hung up

SCAM Claimed to be BT. Tell you have junk downloaded to your router and ask you to download AnyDesk and give them the 9 digit code (this basically enables them access to your device). If it was actually BT, just say you'll call back on official BT number
Called today while we were out. If it is from Severn Trent Water, our pressure was low this morning so could be to do with that.
