Keeps calling. I answer but there is no reply at all. Very irritating considering we are waiting on an important call regarding our friend thats currently in hospital

Likely scam. They rang me. I picked up but didn't say anything into the phone. They didn't say anything either and then hung up. I always answer in this way when I receive an unexpected phone call from an unfamiliar number. Legitimate callers always say "hello" and try to get a response. Scammers hang up. It happens every time!
