I got an email asking me to ring this number regarding an overpayment on a car insurance policy from 2014. Thinking that it might be a scam I went online to find the customer services number for the company and rang them on that number not 0330 100 7303. Called a number in Australia obviously a scam number probably piggy backing on another number or a number not in use.
Man claimed to be from Microsoft and knew my name. Asked if I had a computer. As I did not answer and just kept asking him how he got our number (we are registered with TPS) he said it was from publicly available sources! He then said as I was not cooperating he would cut me off straight away. Extremely concerning due to his bullying attitude and tendency to answer back rather than ending the call as most of them do.
