Received a call from this number claiming to be Microsoft saying that they've detected a problem with my computer and asked if I can switch on my computer. I refused and challenged them; caller eventually put me onto their "supervisor" and he asked me if I understood the nature of this call from Microsoft today but I told him that I didn't believe he was and he said "OK then f**k off" and I replied "Likewise" and hung up. This number is used by scammers. My experience is that they advised me that my PayPal account had been used suspiciously, and invited me to call this number and get the supposed transaction cleared. What made this so dangerous, was the fact that they used the Paypal site giving this number to contact to resolve the problem. Very cute, they nearly caught me, but they asked too many questions about bank accounts, which set the alarm bells ringing. Asked why, the call was terminated.

Fraud: automated message saying an online payment of £900 online on my VISA debit card card was about to be made. I don't have Visa.

I had a call this afternoon apparently from this number 08000234567, which I know is the number of the Financial Ombudsman's Office, when the caller said he was from the fraud dept of my bank. I had called the Financial Ombudsman earlier in the day on that number. It did not feel right and when I challenged the caller he put down the phone. Somebody may be able to pick up the numbers of those who have called the FOO? I will tell the FOO by email as their phone system takes too long to get through!

SCAM Have had numerous calls from this and variations on this number. All from Indian people pretending to have British names (Ellie, Ian, Simon, Brian and Rachel are a few) Claiming to be calling from 'The UK Citizen Adwice' and asking for details of my 'debt' (I have none)

This number called my 90 year old mother posing as the fraud department from the Bank of Scotland. He said 2 lots of money had left her account and they were chasing this up. Thankfully she phoned the bank and it was confirmed that these transactions had not happened. It was a scam, I think to get her personal details, not any account numbers - perhaps identity theft. He phoned her again today apologising for not phoning back yesterday but my mum was very blunt with her replies and he hung up.

This is the fourth time this week calls from 01223 reputed to be Cambridge? saying my bank account has been attacked etc when pressed 2 to talk to the operator a female Asian voice answered....I asked are you in Nagapur India, the line went dead? It's obvious they have a way to get into our phone system. Another one they use is Liverpool 01514.

Fraud Pre recorded message posing as Credit Card company stating your card has been used twice this morning, one transaction supposedly for Amazon the 2nd I couldn’t quite understand but for large sums of money. Asks you to press 1 on your phone to authorise these transactions. Just put the phone down. I’m getting fed up with these people who think they can con other people out of their hard earned money.

I never answer the landline (to avoid giving scammers/spammers the knowledge that my landline is a valid number). I researched the number but could not find a legitimate index entry, so I conclude it is a scam and not to be trusted at all. Potentially dangerous. Currys/PC World calling about a promotion for a mobile phone package. When I said I wasn't interested they immediately hung up, so would imagine it was actually a scam.

Supposedly VISA advising me that debits have been made on my card. This is a scam! It is a recorded message expecting a response. The next step is that they want to verify the card number etc and hey ho! you've lost your money.

Very rude. Very bad. Wouldn’t tell me who was calling. Just wanted me to confirm my name with a yes or no. When I would not say yes or no and just kept asking who was calling, she said well you can piss off! and put the phone down on me. Don’t ever say yes or no on the phone - they record it and use it as approval for trying to get into accounts etc.
