01794399253 called my landline on Thursday 13 July and a recorded message advised me that money had been transferred from my account and to key 1 to sort it. 01794 is a Romsey UK number as is my number so I assumed it was local. I did not continue with the call. It was the same as other messages that I have received recently mentioned Amazon. How do scammers phone from local numbers?

Silence to begin with then a fast talking call centre drone telling me I had been involved in a car accident (which I haven t/nor hit anything) I advised them I hadn t and she then went onto say that perhaps it was something I was unaware of! Said I wasn t interested and hung up.
Go Assist - I called them for a quote for a washing machine repair, but their price was over twice a previous quote from another company. I declined, but they still keep bothering me.

I had a missed call from this number when I was at my work. I called back to see who had been calling as I have had a few missed calls from this number. The line rang for a bit and then an indian man answered the phone and said he was from an loan company.

Calls from this number have always been genuine TSB automated calls to the phone number (landline in my case) that I have registered with TSB to check that a payment I have made through online banking, or setting up a new payee, is genuine. Totally automated, no humans involved, I'm not asked to key in personal information. All safe. If I got a human being asking me for personal information I'd immediately suspect the number had been spoofed and it was a phishing fraud.
