01592 675873 called today, missed the call. When i tried to call it back, number was unavailable. Looks like a VoIP number used by scammers, this is their usual trait when trying to call the number back as it's only set to allow dialling out not calling back.
Rings a couple of times. When you call back you get a message saying this call has been verified. Doesnt say who its from or give any other information.

The caller reports to be from Microsoft and suggest your PC is vulnerable requiring an update. The call is protracted and the caller goes into lots of detail leaving you with the feeling that you have a problem. The caller indicates they can help with the update if they can take control of your laptop .... I stopped at that point.

An urgent verbal message on a loop advising me that Trojan software had been active on my system and that I should not switch off and should phone this number which I did - they said they were Microsoft (a residential number!?) The person wanted me to hold down the Windows and 'R' keys so that he could correct the problem. I asked him if that enabled him to take control of my machine and he then put the phone down.
