Same experience as everyone else but unfortunately I am in some discussion with HMRC over some outstanding tax so I was initially taken in and did press option 1. They already knew my address and postcode ( not sure how ) and I was then stupid enough to give them my DOB before I smelled a rat and rang off. Unhappy that they now have some of my personal details.

This is apparently a lottery syndicate. They wanted me to set up a direct debit of £39/month. It started from a "win a free iPhone, guaranteed". They asked for my contact details, and then it became apparent that my details would be given to lots of companies. Then 02036346988 called me. In less than 1 hour of me putting an ad on gumtree I was inundated with calls from this number and others with a Manchester area code. I kept blocking their numbers, but then they called from different landlines and mobile phone numbers asking if I d had an accident in the last three years and I would be entitled up to £4K. SCAM I recieved a telephone call from what sounded like a call center, but the number was local (01942 491331) the man who spoke was asian sounding claiming to be from the' tax office', said I owed 6 months taxes. I challenged him and asked what ref number he had, he couldn't tell me so I asked for a name and number to call back but he just insisted I pay now or I would be arrested!, so I asked how much? he still couldn't tell me or even my name, just repeated my phone number. I then called him a scammer

Called claiming to be from HMRC. Recorded message from a female with an American accent, calling herself Agent Sarah Wilson. Said to not ignore the message. I know this is a scam but I called the number. The phone was answered by a male with an Indian accent, claiming to be HMRC. When I questioned this he just hung up. Another number now on my blocked calls list!!
