TAXES / HMRC TAXES / HMRC SCAM +44 20 3925 0396 - This number called me this morning and asked me if I’d been working in the last four years, whether I had been self-employed and who I was working for now. When I said I was retired, she said I wouldn’t be eligible for a tax rebate when I asked what the reason for the call was. She signed off.

I phoned this number back, and get through to an automated message saying that if I wish to speak to their customer service centre - then please phone another number (I didn’t bother writing it down)… No identifying company name of ID was given…
Poor line quality, strong foreign accent. Claimed to be from SKY and had detected "slow internet" on my connection which they could fix at no cost. When I replied that I didn't have any problems, immediately hung up.
SCAM! I am always wary when someone with a very obvious Indian accent called Alena tells me she is contacting me about my computer! I laugh and put the phone down.

The text message received from this number on 14/02/2024 at 12:13 simply read: "Got it (thumbs up emoji)" No other content and this number is not in my phone book nor was I expecting any messages like this from anyone. First half the call I thought I was talking to a real person, said they were from some housing repair scheme and said I'd submitted a damage claim. The second I said I had not the voice changed to an automated response in a totally different voice saying Thank you for your time, have a nice day and disconnected.
They keep calling me and I don't know why. I never answer as I live in Norway. I don't answer foreign calls.
Call today supposed to be from BT telling me my IP address was public and hey would make it private. 2 men in what sounded like a room full of people spoke to me. I sked where the were calling from and they gave me an actual BT address in London. I asked the guy if he was Indian and yes he was. I told him the 1st person I spoke with was India too. I asked him if this was a scam. I then heard someone say drop the connection. So looks like a scam to me.
