It is someone you know who is putting your number in and they can hear your conversation with the machine!!! I had this done to me this morning. SCAM - recorded message pretending to be from HMRC. Tax fraud had been committed in my name and to press 1 immediately, if not the police would stop by soon to arrest.
Rang several times, then texted, then rang from private number when I blocked them. Looking for someone called Jamie Young , but obviously was a scam or they were drunk.
