Upon answering a call on the land line around 18:30 this evening, the caller hung up so out of curiosity I dialled 1471 (UK), the call back service and I pressed 3 on my phone to be put directly through to the missed call number. I didn t catch the receivers company name but heard a American or maybe Canadian Man s accent and instructions for extension required. Robot voice claims that internet service will be disconnected in 24hrs. Already had several calls today from different numbers which say the same thing. Hung up and will block if possible.
My husband passed the call to me as it related to my washing machine insurance renewal so I did not hear any name or how the call started. He did rather a hard (and fast) sell with a reduced annual figure but taking 3 years immediately. He seemed to have details of my current annual figure. I checked with D&G who deal with the insurance and they did not recognise the phone number as belonging to anyone working for them.

I just bought a washing machine from boots online and in less than an hour got a call on both my landline and mobile. I was having my hair cut at the time of the calls so I did not answer. After reading the above comments if they call me back they better take some insurance out for themselves . I think it is disgusting that a company like Boots are so quick to sell on my number
Fraud Of the worst kind Attempting to cause anxiety. Recorded message says it’s HMRC, it is not Says phone back immediately or a warrant will be issued for your arrest. Some will be worried enough to do this but nothing good will come of responding I am also reporting to police.
