They phoned me to say they were Microsoft Specials. Told me my PC had a fault - possibly Virus Infected - and first tried to access my PC via Teamviewer. This did not work so i was told to visit www.ammyy.com. Here they did gain access and I sat back to watch the mouse pointer open and close multiple files etc. Much file info was Transfered and after sometime they phoned again to ask if the PC now worked faster,,,,Answer was, "NO". Well this is some landline from Manchester area, I couldn't find any info for this specific number, but there are two facts : people do search for this number which can be seen from different similar pages, and there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. I recommend to block the whole 01618148xxx range, this area is known for "great" telemarketing... People pls did someone answer this number, can you confirm?

I was called at lunchtime today from phone no. 01618501883. A recorded message stated that they were from HMRC and that there was a lawsuit against me and that I should press 1 to speak to my case officer. I knew it was a scam and looked on this website to confirm the fact. How many people fall for this scam (especially the elderly)? I know an individual can block these numbers and I have done just that. But surely if HMRC or other organisations are aware of this scam, BT should be able to block/disconnect
