Rang off as soon as the realised they were rumbled and I was running reverse tracing on them. South African IP and call number spoofing. Just called me regarding an attempted transaction to John Lewis. Said my account was ‘under attack’ and there had been several suspicious transactions. He said he would escalate my case to Level 3 fraud, set up a new account number and sort code with a random generated name. Phoned Santander fraud department who confirmed my account was safe - the scammer then called me back ‘No Caller ID’! so I told him in no uncertain terms that he was a scamming bastard and he could go forth and multiply.
