I have had this number call a few times, not tried to call back, but others have. Apparently they are claiming to be Barclays and then ask for your memorable information. others have found them very rude when speaking to them. It is possible they are not barlcays at all so be aware

Outrageous. called at am New Yrs Day. It was a message saying Happy New Yr which my wife answered. Its clearly a premium rate number - goodness knows if there is a charge to answer!!???
This number must be part of the range of numbers dedicated to the same call centre - I can see more similar numbers of the same range 1618144xxx reported here already, so far as I can see on internet with PPI, accident chasers, usual insurance marketing call centre. People did they call you with something new, new scope?

Had numerous calls over couple of says first time I answered cause I wouldn't confirm who I'm they wouldn't reveal info they said I would have received a letter haven't done so so didn't confirm who I was and explained I'm not going to take call any further as it's a cold call and don't accept cold calls after 8 at night shouldn't be cold calling anyway

Genuine call from the Coop regarding a payment I'd made overseas just an hour or so earlier. Great service and it's a shame they get tarnished reputation because of the actions of others. it is often not easy to tell the scammer from the genuine.
