I said irrelevent if I was seeing as they have not contacted me by name so not interested and hung up. Her phone manner was unprofessional and I suspect just dialling random numbers cold calling

Just to confirm, after my previous post I reported this number to the police, who said it definitely is a scam, and that Microsoft would never call you about this sort of thing. These people will generally want remote access to your computer to "fix a virus" or something like that. They show you some files that they know every computer has and tell you they re harmful, which is completely untrue. They then use the remote access to steal from you. Checked 1471 and found I had been called (no message left). Didn t call back because I know that 0844 is a rip-off number that s always chargeable.
