My wife went through this and they are evil. they clearly have some access to HMRC they threaten you with jail and then ring off and ring back as a Police Man saying they are sending a van round to your house. they claim to know where you live by geolocating you report to Action Fraud - its your duty.

If you do answer the nuisance calls and it’s NOT an automated message, be polite to the agent, talk to him/her. Remember they are on commission, so waste their time. State you are interested in their SCAM products. Give them false info. If you can arrange a rep to visit, do it at a local café and don’t turn up. I think you get the idea. This is probably where lying would be acceptable even if it’s not in your nature.

I was called this week by an intrusive salesperson who asked me if I went for walks. I told her I didn t think this was any of her business, and rang off. She immediately rang back and told me This was not the way to do things . Harassment. We got the number from her and rang off. When I want a service, I ll do the callng!
Said he was from BT and they are about to disconnect my internet because I had apparently downloaded such bad viruses that it was affecting their network, lol. He said he can show me on my computer. I asked him to give me my BT account number. He started to get agitated and said he cannot do that over the phone. So I asked him to tell me my address and he said F*** you and hung up.
Called this morning at 12.32 did not recognise the number let it ring then checked the number is from Hemel Hempstead no history on this number YET.

It's an automated message that says your National Insurance number is about to be blocked for various illegal activities and if you don't act now one of their officers will be round the arrest you. A very dangerous number claiming that I was going to be arrested for tax fraud, knew instantly it was a scam so I challenged the person calling. Man claimed to be named Adam Smith, questioned him and he instantly hung up on me.
