My call blocker (Truecall)marks the call as INTERNATIONAL with Belfast as the origin BUT I live only one hour from Belfast so it is NOT an international number. I suspect it originates in India but is disguised as a local number with the 028 prefix of all landline numbers in Northern Ireland.

This is the UK version of a scam running amok in the US. The supposed company, microsoftechs.com, contacts people and claims there is an issue with their computer. The claim to be partnered with Microsoft and gain confidence with all the classic scam talk. If you do get scammed, they will access your computer via remote access, go through your email, install software and who knows what else. Just after receiving 01225 809616 (no response, no speech), which I picked up because it was a local number to us. This number called - listed as International 0037283087478. I let the call go to answer machine where it shut off after 3 secs. So, was the 1st number a spoof call to capture numbers of people who picked up? Which the 2nd number then used?
