This number came up on pc claiming it had been hacked and was malware collecting credit card details. Saying call "#above" immediately. It is a con I called Microsoft they told me what I already knew. SCAM trying to sell you unneeded security or after info. The man hung up when I said I was calling on behalf of friend so wasn't at pc, he then hung up twice without answering.

Exactly the same as previous comment but it was Sean Johnston that called first and then when I expressed concern he asked if I would like to speak to a more senior person. He repeated word for word what Sean had said and wanted me to log in to a laptop. I cut the call and heard no more. I have concern that a more vulnerable person may be sucked into this so please spread the word.

They hang up before I can answer and they never leave a voicemail. I never phone back such companies are there are too many scams afoot. Anyhow I don't do business with companies over the phone or with cold-callers; if I need or want a service I'll research into suppliers and go and look for it myself at physical business premises. Some people say this is a Manchester company, but the 0113 STD is for Leeds. Anyhow they've just got themselves blocked by me.

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 17829301xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with telemarketing - accident claims, but also holiday offers. Just block it if not interest
