This number suddenly dialled itself from my phone while I was playing an online game. I was charged ?2.50 for the call. The number is not in my contacts and I did not have the keypad open at the time. I realised what was happening when a notification came up on my phone game page.

SCAM My wife bought in June a canvas print via the internet from the company Simly Cavas Art (03333660185). To date the item has not arrived.The company is surpose to be in Blackpool. Landline number indicates Northern France. 4 emails unanswered and a number of phone call all met with no reply. THIS IS A SCAM AND A BOGUS COMPANY BE WARNED.

A man with an Asian accent claimed to be from the Internet Security Department of BT, reporting a problem with my computer. I just told him that I am not with BT (true) and can t understand why BT didn t know that, and I hung up. This change of approach could be dangerous though because those with a BT connection might think it is genuine.
Total silence, caller terminated after two seconds. DO NOT return the call. Just as with e-mails, such action confirms to the originator that the number has a human on the end and then, the response is saved for use by the cold caller company that uses it. This is a scam where they pretend to be BT and will give you te above number to call with an id code to verify their authenticity. They tell you they want to shut down your Broadband for 5 days due to errors - blah blah. Probably after they will try to get access to your pc in some way. Don t know cos I crashed out and phoned BT who said it was a scam.
