Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 1617685xxx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI, life insurance - insurance marketing. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). People did they call you with the same or something new?

There are few similar numbers reported by more people (or searched on these pages) so I assume they all belong to the same call centre - 0203 695 3 806, 0203 695 3 265, 0203 695 3 242 - note that only the last two/three digits alternate, which is common for call centres to have some range of numbers dedicated for their business. I too have just had exactly the same call as others from this Asian guy. I don t understand how these people can still be operating from the same telephone number without having been investigated and taken offline by the Police. Because no scam has actually taken place, Action Fraud don t want the detail, just to record the attempted fraud in their stats. Presumably some people are falling for this.

I think the number shown on my mobile may be a spoof number to prompt me to reply and be diverted to the premium rate real number. This is the second time in 2 days I have reported a problem. Claimed my computer had been hacked. Phoned back four times, saying they were from Google. A different voice then came on asking mope to write down a code number to check they were genuine. Did not check but reported this number to Actionfraud police number. Very, very upsetting. Now scanning my pc for any signs af hacking. Will take several hours.
