Crypto companies keep trying to setup accounts with the owner of this number.
This is a scam where they pretend to be BT and will give you te above number to call with an id code to verify their authenticity. They tell you they want to shut down your Broadband for 5 days due to errors - blah blah. Probably after they will try to get access to your pc in some way. Don t know cos I crashed out and phoned BT who said it was a scam.
The call from this number was a scam purporting to come from Visa credit cards.

SCAM Purported to come from BT saying my internet connections was being used unlawfully by several different people.
SCAM Claiming to be from the HMRC. Speaking with an Indian accent. Claimed I owed £35000 in unpaid taxes and that this has been logged at my local court house. I gave him a false name. and he could not confirm any information about me, as it was confidential!! What a load of rubbish. Now blocked, but still getting voice mails left.

This was a private landline until it was hijacked and I was receiving constant abuse from people returning their calls. If anyone has the name of the company using it please let me know so I can pass it on to the fraud squad

I was asked to call the number for a validity check. Number rings and then when answered goes quiet. My number is withheld, so that s why they will not talk. These are Agents, probably working for Energy Consultants. The prices they get for you will include a significant commission. They will lie and harass you into agreeing contracts. SCAM: the number that called was too long to be identified as a phone number - it had 006 44 in front of it, which is probably deliberate to make it impossible to search. I could hear a call centre. Indian sounding guy asked for me by name. Told him he had the wrong number & he hung up.
