No longer do I speak when I answer a number not familiar. If it's a cold call, they will speak first. If it's someone who knows me, they will speak if I don't. This one just hung up, so I can deduce it was an unsolicited and unwanted call and blocked them.
SCAM: a woman called pretending to be calling on behalf of a domestic appliances insurance. It's a lie.

Had 3 calls over the last few days from various numbers all starting with the same dalling code, 01926. As this is the code where we live, answered the first call - no immediate response but after a few seconds, over a very crackly line, what sounded like a well spoken middle aged white lady, said something along the lines of 'suspicious transactions on my account, one for £300 odd & the other for £1,400 odd & I must do certain things at which point I hung up. We have friend's numbers programmed into our phones. If the phone rings and no name is shown on the screen, DON'T answer it! They can always send an SMS - they have my number anyway!
