Someone just called from this no. claiming to be from Amazon. They were female with a strong Indian accent. Said someone had tried purchasing a Canon camera on my account last night in Germany. None of my personal details were confirmed with me and they wouldn't let me ask any questions. Obviously their tactic is to rush you in to the "cancellation" process as it's urgent. Caller ID identified the call was from Bishops Stortford. The caller said he was from O2 offering a 30% discount on my tariff. I told him I was suspicious of this call, he diverted me to another person who repeated the discount spiel. Asked why I'd be getting a discount, he said many complaints to O2 has led them to offer 'selected customers' a discount; I wouldn't have to give him any personal details, he would send me 2 texts. so I told him to sod off and disconnected the call. Reported to the ICO

They will sign you up on a completely different deal than agreed initially with the most expensive phone available. They use several phone numbers some of them on Whatsapp. Also will e-mail an order confirmation from an address that seems genuine. It's not. After receiving the parcel they will try to convince you to send the phone back to some shady residential address. Avoid!

The idea is to ask you to download remote desktop software to gain access to your computer, then attempt to bamboozle you with made up technical nonsense whilst in the background they copy your files and internet settings in the hope that yo have stored online banking credentials.

Monday May 8 Call from this number stating they were ringing from microsoft. This was one of a series of 6 calls starting on Friday 5th that stated they were (or were probably connected )from microsoft ! Different numbers used for each call; no messages left on answerphone. Received a call from bank security team (doesn't happen) alleging fraudulent card use. Nothing showing in my online banking. FURTHERMORE At no point on the recorded call did the give my banks name. BEWARE
