Man called telling me he was my broadband provider and that my line was being hacked. Very aggressive, threatening tone of voice. Extremely argumentative when I suggested he was lying and told me I would be cut off if I didn't do what he said. Hung up and blocked the number but why can't these people be stopped? There are 100's of complaints about this number - why can't they be prosecuted for this intimidation?

Claimed to be Amazon, saying I’d bought a gift card for £49.99 and they wanted to check this was correct, and if it wasn’t did I want to cancel the order. I said it wasn’t me and I’d like to cancel (but was already suspicious - who buys a gift card for £49.99, rather than £50?!), then they started asking about which device I’d like the refund processed via. When I asked more questions about my concerns that this was a scam call they hung up.

Same call - an automated voicemail is left about HMRC investigation / house is under surveillance.. along those lines. Call came from 02039605352. When I called back, the guy actually said that he's from the tax refunds dept. of HMRC. When I confronted him, he hung up. On my third attempt, I could not get through so I'm guessing they use a system that allows them to generate new numbers. This scam has the potential for distressing and catching out vulnerable people. I wonder how far reporting this to the po
