This is a scam call probably targeted at Windows users. Do NOT engage with the caller. When they told me the call was "about my computer" I asked who they were. The Indian operative told me that he was from the Technical Support Team. I reminded the caller that this was a common term for any Help Desk, not a company or organisation. I told them that I am an IT professional, not an idiot and he hung up immediately.

In the second call from the impersonators today all I could hear was the usual crackling, a give-away. Perhaps the gruffness of my voice put them off. Nobody spoke. Then they rang off. It is not unusual for this to happen, after I have told them they should be locked up, which I had done earlier.

I was told they had record of me being involved in a car accident. I told the caller (Liverpool accent) this was untrue and caller conceded that the wrong box must have been ticked on some imaginary paperwork. They did not press me further. Hopefully they will not call again.
