Fax call from HMRC threatening tax unpaid and arrest

I had a call from a woman with an Indian accent on this number purporting to be from Virgin Media, saying there were error messages coming up on my Internet connection. I told them I wasn't the account holder and asked who they wanted to speak to. They then said that they understood I was the account holder. I asked them to name the person they wanted to speak to. The line went dead at that point, funnily enough. Definitely a scam.

Fraud - It’s a I understand you have been in an accident annoying call
Claimed that £600 overseas transfer from my debit card press 1 blah blah, press 2 blah blah. Didn't identify the bank that issued my debit card. Definite scam. Female voice recorded message
Called number back and it went to an answer phone. It states that they are a marketing company. Wouldn t bother answering they will just waste your time.

Unrecognised number which I never waste my time answering. Straight on block. If it was anything of importance, they would follow up with a text message. My advice to anyone would be, never answer to an unknown number unless it s followed by a text message. Even then you should only respond to a text if the message interests you.
