Called on my wife s mobile, but used my name. Called about an accident I never had. Reported to ICO

I received a call but couldn t answer. When I tried to call back it was impossible to establish a connection. Maybe it is a call center number?

Scam call purporting to be Amazon
I received a call from 020 300 45597 this afternoon and answered with my customary BT_Exchange_+_last_6_digits of my phone number. A young woman said "Am I speaking to Mrs Jones?". I said yes and she said "Hello, I m Portia. I m calling from the Telephone Protection Service", to which I replied "Right ...". She asked "Are you getting a lot of nuisance calls?" to which I replied "Yes, all the time, and I reckon it s because our name is Jones". She replied "Oh, OK then" and hung up! I actually thought th

Missed call
rang twice both times claiming to be from Talk Talk claiming to have identified a fault with my broadband and asking me to turn on my computer so they could access it to remove any viruses.The second word to them was off.Its a scam dont get caught
These days it is well worth having caller display on a land line - mobiles have it anyway. So for all these callers, 0845-, unavailable, withheld, etc., just lift the receiver and drop it back immediately, or, on a mobile, answer the call and immediately shut it down. This stops answerphone message.
