It was a missed call. When I phoned back it connected silently, but nobody answered. I called from another phone and it showed as an invalid number.
Received call at 08.45am, Wednesday 10th, Feb., purportedly from HMRC. Hung Up

SPAM. Possibly Wimbledon Guild of Social Work/Need More Time Limited/Commsave makimg nuisance 8am, 10am 12pm, 3pm, 4pm, 7pm , 9pm nuisance calls as usual. No way to call back usually, number not recognised comes up and spam filter picks up call.
Asian gentleman claiming to be from BT Openreach, say my BT internet is insecure. Ha ha....
