SPAM - is calling our German office landline for a couple of weeks now.. I'm always picking up the phone, nothing happens -silence for about 2 minutes and caller hangs up.. we have reported the number to BT as I think that this is not only spam but also a possible scam

Had this twice now, using my area code, so of course you answer the phone. Yet another scam and a particularly underhand one, using area codes.
Fraud
Female caller, delay before she came on the line, very strong Indian accent. Apparently calling on behalf of BT and someone in Mount View, California had access to my computer and could view everything I was viewing. Wanted me to go to google.co.uk and then enter my ip address. When I questioned her as to the reason for her call, being suspicious, she told me not to waste her time at which point I ended the call.

When I asked where they had got my number from they told me I had opted in. I do not opt in for these kinds of calls and I m furious that my number has been sold on to this company. When I said I don t want life insurance from a company cold calling me she just said snottily "I gathered that" and that was it.
