As usual I did not answer and checked the number out on tellows before I decided if to call it back. The reason for the comment is to suggest that these calls come as a result of fishing scams in the form of job roles posted on Direct.Gov universal jobmatch website. I never used Gumtree or put my details on there, so for me they have not come from there. It is likely though, that people put fake jobs there too. Or if not fake jobs, sell the details of the unsuccessful candidates. Either way its a liberty
