Caller said that he had a cheque for me in the sum of £1003 in relation to past 'financial products'. On questioning he admitted that he did not have a cheque but that Ascend Finance could submit a PPI claim for me. I have checked online and the Ascend Finance website no longer exists! Caller said that Ascend was part of Vital Finance. This call was bordering on a scam.

SCAM: The number 08000478737 is on a letter supposedly from Trading Standards saying a wine investment company I have shares with has gone bust. The letter comes with an Insolvency Service form to complete regarding my shares, and that i must complete it in order to get full value of my shares returned. I must telephone the number to give the answers. Except, the wine company hasn't gone bust & Trading Standards don't send out these kind of letters.
Scammers: Claim National Insurace number compromised. Press 1 to contact their security or be arrested. Prepare to be ripped off.
