spoke to a young man over the phone, i declined his offer but did check his story out and it all checked out.apparantley they produce books for childrens charities by selling sponsorship ad space.they do seem above board and although the chap had a scouse accent turned out to be legit

SCAM - female automated voice not giving a name but saying she was from BT and that there is suspicious activity on my telephone/internet line, so they are going to disconnect me. She asks me to press 1 to talk to someone about it. I didn't, of course. I've had two such calls within the last half hour. 1471 gives different numbers both times: 02082-451035 and 02082-876277.

automated call of someone sounding very official and slighty scary saying that there was a report of abuse related to my NI number and to press 1 to avoid being arrested - i did not press 1 but it was not pleasant. No name given etc etc.
